Liszt has 21 pieces for chamber ensembles. A relatively small number compared to other genres.
The first two pieces were Zwei Walzer written c. 1825 written for piano and violin.
One of his last pieces was titled “Am Grabe Richard Wagner” which translates “At the Grave of Richard Wagner” it was composed in 1883 for a string quartet.
Most of his pieces are orchestrated for a string and piano or some combination of strings.
His second to last piece was titled “Am Grabe Richard Wagner” which translates “At the Grave of Richard Wagner” it was composed in 1883 (The year Wagner died) for a string quartet.
While they spread from the 20s- 80s he wrote one or two per decade until the 60s 70s and 80s.
